There are lies people tell with words.
Then there are lies people tell with rules.
The second kind is harder to spot because rules sound respectable. Rules wear a tie and speak in an English accent. Rules greet you nicely, “hello, jolly o’ chap.” Rules show up with that fake calm voice, like they just floated down from the sky one day carrying pure wisdom and concern for the children.
That is how the 30 minute rule worked.
But it wasn’t the first rule.
